McDonalds India (West & South) recently opened its first restaurant in the seaport city of Kollam in Kerala. Formerly known as Quilon, the city has historically been open to foreign influences and visitors, giving its residents a willingness to try new things, including new cuisines.
The restaurant opened on Christmas Day at the popular RP Mall in the city. The stand-alone store, spread across a 2700 sq ft area, is located on two floors and has 102-seating. Though the restaurant is the first in the coastal city of Kollam, it marks the 97th restaurant in the South India region and is the eighth in Kerala.

We are delighted to open our first restaurant in Kollam, a city that has great opportunities to grow our brand. Our commitment, to the residents of Kollam, is to deliver a modern and exciting restaurant experience, with delicious food and beverage options, said Gerald Dias, Director South Operations, McDonalds.
We offer wholesome, delicious meals, ensuring that our customers get fresh food of good quality as well as at a great price. Our menu has been created using flavourful spices that appeal to Indian palates. Our stringent focus on quality extends all the way from the farm to our restaurants, he added.
For vegetarians, Dias added, We meet the special requirements of vegetarians by strictly segregating vegetarian and non-vegetarian cooking and serving areas in our restaurants. Most of our sauces, including mayonnaise, are vegetarian. Even our Soft Serves are 100 per cent vegetarian, he said.
I’m thrilled to celebrate this moment with our local team and welcome both our new employees as well as our customers together. Kerala, as a state, holds huge potential for growth and we look forward to building our brand and our business responsibly and making a positive impact in the local community, Dias added.
